Seminar held on impact of climate change on coasts of Oman, UAE

Addressing the seminar on ‘Impact of climate change on coastal areas and shallow marine environments in the UAE and Oman’, Prof Amer al Hinai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research at SQU, said that an ongoing research aims to secure an understanding of the effects of human and natural changes in the Sea of Oman.

“It is expected that this joint effort will achieve a number of goals, including assessing the effects of regional climate change on land and sea, surveying changes caused by various natural and human causes over the past decades, estimating environmental degradation of wildlife habitats and identifying continuing risks to the shallow marine environment and land-sea interaction,” he added.
