Mosques around Saudi Arabia perform solar eclipse prayer on Tuesday – Saudi Gazette

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Mosques across the regions of Saudi Arabia held the solar eclipse prayers (Salat Al-Kusuf) in the afternoon, coinciding with the sighting of the eclipse.

Mosques performed the eclipse prayer in implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, as on Monday it called on imams of mosques in all regions of the Kingdom to perform the prayer.

The ministry had set the afternoon prayer time, which coincided with the partial eclipse, during a period starting from 1:30 p.m. until 3:50 p.m.

The Astronomical Observatory of Majmaah University in Hawtat Sudair published pictures of the partial solar eclipse Tuesday in the sky of Saudi Arabia.

The eclipse was photographed with a CCD camera, with part of the sun being covered by the moon.

It is noteworthy that the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, confirmed that the eclipse prayer is a confirmed Sunnah.
