PROJECTS: Saudi’s SABIC expected to award EPC contract for new process units in Q3

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) is expected to award the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for new process units at affiliate Arabian Petrochemical Company's (Petrokemya)  complex in Jubail Industrial City by the third quarter of 2021, a source aware of the details told Zawya Projects. “The invitation to bid was on 30 March with a submission deadline of 30 April. The EPC contract is expected to be awarded by August 2021," the source told Zawya Projects, adding that the project is scheduled for completion by December 2023. The project value, as estimated by the source, is $350 million. CTCI Corporation, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Tecnicas Reunidas are bidding for the project, officials from these companies confirmed with Zawya Projects. UK-based engineering firm Wood Group has been awarded the front-end engineering and design consultancy contract, a second source told Zawya Projects. He said scope of work involves the construction of a carbonisation unit, sodium cyanide unit, hydrogen cyanide unit, storage tanks, utilities and laying of inter-connecting lines, he added. Petrokemya produces olefins, derivatives and polymers at its Jubail complex, according to SABIC's 2020 Annual Report. (Reporting by Senthil Palanisamy; Editing by Anoop Menon) ([email protected])Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only.
