‎Saudi Arabia, US sign 18 agreements, MoC in space, investment, energy

Saudi ministers of energy, investment, communications and health concluded 18 agreements and memoranda of cooperation (MoCs) with their US counterparts on July 15.

This comes on the sidelines of US President Joe Biden’s visit to the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency reported.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Investment, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and several private sector companies signed 13 agreements with leading US companies such as Boeing, Raytheon Missiles & Defense, Medtronic, Digital Diagnostics and IKVIA.

The Saudi Space Authority also concluded the Artemis Accords with the US Space Agency (NASA), which grants the Kingdom a seat in the international coalition preparing for the civil exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids for peaceful purposes.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with IBM to upskill 100,000 young women and men over five years within eight innovative initiatives that can position the Kingdom as a hub for technology and innovation in the MENA region.

MCIT also signed a MOC with the US National Communications and Information Administration (NTIA), which includes cooperation between the two countries on 5G and 6G technologies. The agreement targets accelerating the growth of the digital economy and
