Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec), a leading company in the integrated coordination of planning, purchasing and supplying of water and electricity across the UAE, announced it will host the third auction for Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) in Abu Dhabi, on March 14, following two successful auctions last year.

CECs enable Abu Dhabi entities to track and verify their clean energy usage from generation to consumption, helping to reduce their carbon footprint, and empowering them to achieve their sustainability goals.

Othman Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer of EWEC, said, “The CEC scheme is a new and innovative initiative that is already showing the significant impact it can have in helping companies decarbonise their energy consumption. Since the first CEC auction last September, the market has expanded rapidly to encompass the energy, industry, events, real estate and healthcare sectors, with landmark agreements signed with major entities to provide them with power from EWEC’s clean energy sources.
