Let’s Talk MEP | Retrofits key to Combat Climate Change – MEP MiddleEast

“Sustainability” and “Energy Efficiency” have been key buzz-words within the MEP industry for the past few months, but only a few individuals, firms, and key stakeholders within the electromechanical, HVAC, and public health space – including academicians and consultants – have converted this narrative into actionable plans over the past 12 months to combat climate change.

Dubai is leading this charge in terms of implementation. It has set ambitious targets to reduce 30% of its energy use by 2030, which could result in a minimum of 1.7 terawatt-hours of energy savings and a reduction of one million tonnes in carbon emissions.

These targets are extremely essential in combating the ill effects of climate change, especially given that the existing global building stock is a leading contributor to greenhouse gases, generating approximately 40% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions.
