UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has entered into a partnership with France-based energy service provider Schneider Electric to improve sustainability across the manufacturing sector.

In the leadup to the UAE hosting COP28 in 2023, the partnership is part of a wide-ranging initiative to make the country’s industrial sector the most sustainable in the region.

According to the statement, Schneider Electric consultants will conduct on-site sustainability evaluations of 50 manufacturers, as well as a series of webinars on digital transformation and energy efficiency as well as an internship program for 50 Emiratis.

The agreement is part of the UAE Industry 4.0 Program, which aims to boost industrial productivity by 30 percent and add $6.8 billion (AED25 billion) to the economy by 2031.

“Sustainability is not just a nice-to-have, it’s a fundamental driver of growth and a competitive advantage for the country’s industrial sector. And we can drive sustainability through technological innovation. As the world’s most sustainable company, we are delighted to be able to undertake this project with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology to support the country’s manufacturing sector in its own journey to become greener, more energy-efficient, and ultimately net zero.”
