Abu Dhabi's non-oil foreign trade in the first five months of 2020 reached Dh80.23 billion as the emirate focuses on diversifying its economy away from oil.



The value of exports during the period amounted to Dh23.20bn while the value of re-exports stood at Dh14.79bn. Imports remained steady at Dh42.24bn, Abu Dhabi Customs said in a statement through the state news agency Wam on Sunday.



Abu Dhabi, which accounts for about 6 per cent of the world's proven oil reserves, is undertaking a number of measures to grow its non-oil economy. Last year, the government rolled out a Dh50bn Ghadan initiative to attract investments as well as boost non-oil exports.
