ADMAF announces the winner of its 2022 TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) has announced Maitha Alhammadi as the winner of the 2022 TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award, which recognises young Emiratis in the fields of sustainable design and architecture.

Her project “Agro-Industrial Tourism” imagines a sustainable destination between Etihad Rail and the UAE’s agricultural setting that merges agriculture, tourism, soil and aquifer treatment, utilising waste from the UAE’s dates industry such as seeds and spoiled dates.

H.E. Huda Ibrahim Alkhamis, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, said: “We are pleased to commemorate ten years of partnership with TotalEnergies as part of our mission to reward excellence and empower Emirati youth by developing their skills and enhancing their creative abilities. This year’s award reflects the designation of the year 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, and seeks to encourage young people to find innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. Maitha Al Hammadi’s unique work ‘Agro-Industrial Tourism’ is a testament to the potential held by young people to contribute to our nation’s efforts to create a better future.
