Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) participated in a campaign to clean the beach, and plant mangroves at the Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary, organised by the Emirates Marine Environmental Group.

The move is in conjunction with the National Environment Day, observed on February 4 each year, and is held this year under the theme ‘Towards a Sustainable Future’.

More than 250 employees and their families participated in the event. The campaign succeeded in removing more than 1,500 kilograms of garbage from the reserve’s beaches, one of the most important nature reserves in Dubai. The participants planted 310 mangroves as well.

Dewa also launched

an awareness campaign through its internal channels and its official pages on social media websites to raise awareness among employees and customers about the importance of preserving precious natural resources. Dewa organised virtual environmental lectures in Arabic and English, in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, to highlight the most important natural reserves in the UAE and Dubai.
