Mubadala Energy unveils gas discovery in Indonesia

UAE – Mubasher: Mubadala Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, has announced a gas discovery in Indonesia.

The discovery is located in the Tangkulo-1 exploration well, drilled in South Andaman, about 65 kilometres offshore of North Sumatra, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The recent discovery at the Tangkulo-1 well marks the second successful deep-water operation for the company.

Mansoor Mohammed Al Hamed, CEO of Mubadala Energy, stated: “When added to our recent success at Layaran-1, this game-changing discovery promises to transform Indonesia’s and Southeast Asia’s energy landscape and demonstrates that South Andaman is one of the world’s most exciting energy plays.”

“By working with partners and harnessing our world-class technical capabilities, I am confident we can realise the full potential of this block, in line with our commitment to support the government’s ambitious development timeframes,” Al Hamed added.

Earlier in May 2024, Mubadala Investment and US-based Global Infrastructure Partners pumped AUD 6.40 billion ($4.20 billion) into a urea fertilisers plant in West Australia.
