Uniper Energy, Neutral Fuel collaborate to deliver maritime fuel in Fujairah

UAE - Mubasher: Uniper Energy DMCC (UED) and Neutral Fuel in Dubai have announced their collaboration to provide Fujairah in the UAE with maritime biofuel.

The UED's businesses focus on supplying very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO), while Neutral Fuels pioneered in replacing fossil fuels with net-zero biofuels, according to a press release on Tuesday.

Both companies will cooperate in mixing VLSFO with Neutral Fuels biofuel to form a maritime fuel that meets the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standard to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide gas.

Limiting the use of sulfur in shipping fuels to 0.5% as mandated by the IMO cuts the main source of atmospheric pollution.

The Managing Director of UED, Lars Liebig, commented: "UED is already supplying up to 500,000 tons of VLSFO per month from its processing plant in the Port of Fujairah, the world's third-largest bunkering hub."

The Chief Commercial Officer of Neutral Fuels, Gary Hubbard, remarked: "It is fitting for the UAE to lead the way in making maritime biofuel widely available to the shipping industry."
