A team of consultants had started working on the nearly $2 billion metro extension project, a new report had said. The consultancy is for extending the metro corridor from King Hamad Railway Station at Alramli area to the new sports City and the International Exhibition Centre at Sakhir area, The selected advisors, consultancy-me reported, started helping the authorities shortlist a suitable engineering consultancy to create a design for the extension project. KPMG is the financial advisor of the project, which also has several other consultancies involved. French multinational infrastructure group Egis is managing the technical side, while DLA Piper is the legal advisor. The ministry's project team handles the whole project from bidding to its execution and received 11 bids against a tender launched in March this year for Phase 1 of the Metro Rail Project. The tender focused on assessing the possibility of an alternative corridor, demand study and station allocation, concept and preliminary design of corridor and cost estimation.
