Ethiopian government says Great Revival Dam project entered final phase

NNA - Ethiopia has started the process of completing the construction works on the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) which opens the road at the start of its fifth basin fill. According to what was announced in a note by the Ethiopian deputy prime minister and foreign minister,nbsp;Demeke Mekonnen, at the end of a meeting of the executive committee of the National Dam Coordination Council which took place yesterday in Addis Ababa, the construction rate of the dam currently reached 94,6 percent. Mekonnen then praised the Ethiopian people for demonstrating to the entire world that ldquo;anything is possiblerdquo; by tirelessly providing their support and carrying out conservation activities in the basin. Mekonnen then returned to blaming Egypt for the failure of the negotiations, recalling that four rounds of tripartite talks have taken place in recent months, and reiterated Ethiopia#39;s firm position in consolidating its efforts for regional integration and mutual development.
