President Sisi briefed on electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries – Egypt Today

CAIRO – 7 August 2022: In a meeting with the government, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was briefed on the developments of electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Greece and Cyprus, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement on Sunday. In a meeting during which he followed up on the state’s strategy for new and sustainable energy, as well as generating power for national development projects. The meeting reviewed developments in electricity generation from new and renewable energy, which is produced by wind and solar energy, in collaboration with private sector companies and partnerships with foreign expertise. This comes within the framework of Egypt’s strategy for integrated and sustainable energy, which aims to reach 42% of renewable energy in the electrical energy mix in Egypt by 2035. This strategy seeks to leverage Egypt's renewable energy resources and potential, Rady said. As to the use of wind energy, the meeting reviewed efforts to increase capabilities generated by wind turbines by relying on urtla-high turbines with high production capacities so as to leverage wind energy in regions characterized by high wind speed nationwide, Rady added.
