MEP Middle East Awards 2020 Sustainable Project of the Year: Terra The Sustainability Pavilion, Buro Happold – MEP MiddleEast

The Sustainability Pavilion has been designed towards stringent LEED v4 Platinum standards, the highest level of LEED certification.

Adverse environmental impact to the site is minimized by sophisticated rainwater management, landscaping with local or drought tolerant plants, and designing the project such that the outdoor microclimate on the site is improved as a result of ample shading from the central solar canopy.

Environmental impacts due to water use are minimized by water demand reduction as well as sophisticated water management technologies giving the project the opportunity to target net zero water use.

Similarly, the use of ample shading from the canopy combined with low energy design and extensive solar energy generation has also presented the project the opportunity to be net zero energy in regular operations.
