PROJECTS: Kuwait expected to award OHL project in Q1 2022

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is expected to award the main contract for its 400 kV overhead lines (OHL) network at Nuwaiseeb, Kuwait, by the first of quarter 2022. “The main construction tender was issued on 3 October with a bid submission deadline of November 28. The main contract is expected to be awarded by first week of January 2022,” a source close to the project told Zawya Projects. The scope of work involves supply and installation of 400 kV overhead transmission lines from Al Nuwaiseeb Power Generation Plant to Al Mutlaa Transformer Station, the source said. He said the project is slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2024, adding that the estimated project value is around $100 million. Earlier this week, Zawya Projects had reported that Kuwait is expected to award the consultancy contract for its 3.6-gigawatt Nuwaiseeb Phase 1 combined cycle power plant by the first quarter of 2022.
