Berry broaches latest developments with Mikati, meets new Japanese Ambassador, outgoing Sri Lankan Ambassador, MP Abou Faour, receives New Year congratulatory cables

NNA - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday welcomed at his Ain Al-Tineh residence, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, with whom he discussed the general situation and the latest political developments. 

Following the meeting, Mikati said that his meeting with Berri mainly focused on an array of state affairs. “I took his opinion regarding some matters, and we are both on the same page,” he added. 

Speaker Berri also received the new Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Masayuki Magoshi, who paid him a protocol visit upon assuming his new duties in Lebanon.

The visit was an occasion during which they discussed the current general situation and the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Separately, Berri received Sri Lankan Ambassador to Lebanon, Shani Calyaneratne, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of her diplomatic duties in Lebanon.

Berri later met with "Democratic Gathering" MP Wael Abou Faour, with whom he discussed the current general situation and the latest political developments.

On the other hand, Berri received cables on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year from several officials, namely from Speaker of the Cypriot Parliament Annita Demetriou, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Mohammed Reza Majidi, former Iraqi Vice President, Dr. Ayad Allawi, and Sheikh
