Minerals Development Oman lays foundation stone to redevelop Asil, Al Bayda copper mines

Under the patronage of H.E. Eng Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, the Minerals Development Oman Company marked the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the redevelopment project of Asil and Al Bayda copper mines.

The post Minerals Development Oman lays foundation stone to redevelop Asil, Al Bayda copper mines appeared first on The Arabian Stories News.MUSCAT : These mines, located within Block 4 in the wilayats of Sohar and Liwa, boast substantial commercial reserves of copper ore, estimated at approximately 2.78 million tons.The redevelopment project is expected to commence shortly, with operations initially focusing on extracting copper ore from the Asil mine, slated to begin during the current year. Subsequently, production will extend to the Al Bayda mine, which is anticipated to start in 2026.The project’s production capacity is expected to reach about 800,000 tons of copper ore annually.
