MoSD launches integrated early childhood development centres project



Muscat – The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) launched a project focusing on integrated early childhood development (IECD) centres on Wednesday.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

MoSD will oversee the project in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University, and Unicef in Oman,

The project’s main objective is to provide rehabilitation and early detection services for individuals with disabilities and ensure comprehensive monitoring for children aged three months to six years.

The project aims to deliver childcare services that adhere to international standards while considering national privacy regulations. Its core focus is on fostering socialisation for affected children, monitoring their growth and development stages, and increasing public awareness regarding health standards, proper nutrition, and early detection mechanisms for childhood issues.

Maani bint Abdullah bin Hamad al Busaidi, Director General of Family Growth Department at MoSD, emphasised the ethical and national significance of investing in early childhood. She highlighted the project’s role in shedding light on educational and health services for individuals with disabilities, as well as reviewing Arab and international experiences to shape the future of integrated early childhood development.
