Oman’s Municipality invites bids for Muttrah Square project

Muscat – Muscat Municipality has invited bids for the Muttrah Square project, which proposes to revamp the iconic area in Muscat completely.

Earlier this year, the project plan won the inaugural Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design.

As per the Royal Orders of His Majesty the Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Muscat Municipality as the implementer of the project called for tenders for its construction.

A statement issued by Muscat Municipality, said ‘We wish to invite companies to compete for the tender for the construction of Muttrah Square project; which will be an innovative landmark in Muscat Governorate.’

The deadline for submission of tenders is February 15, 2023, it added.

Muttrah Square, designed by Abdulla al Bahri, Omaima al Hinai and Ahmed al Jahdhami, was declared the winner of the first edition of the Bilarab award.

All the famous landmarks of Muttrah will be visible from the bridge. The arch bridge will be surrounded by a plaza having a dancing fountain, retail stores and cafés lit by lights blending with the waves of the sea.
