Head of the Trademarks and Geographical Indications Department at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Badriya bint Khalfan Al Rahbiyah, elucidated that Oman’s trademark system operates by the provisions of the Trademark System Law of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, ensuring adherence to established legal frameworks.

As defined by Al Rahbiyah, a trademark encompasses names, symbols, or designs aimed at distinguishing goods, products, or services, with conditions pertaining to quality, legality, and conformity with ethical standards. Saeed bin Hamdoun Al Siyabi, Intellectual Property Researcher at the Ministry, shed light on the registration procedures, highlighting the significance of documenting and registering trademarks to safeguard creators’ rights and mitigate instances of forgery and commercial fraud.
