RO9.6mn pact inked to build 300 homes for orphans, the needy

Muscat – Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood and Shoba Group signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday to build 300 homes for orphans and needy families, worth RO9.6mn, over the next ten years.

The signing ceremony was held under the aegis of H E Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

The pact was signed by Sana bint Abdul Rahman al Khanjariya, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood, and BNC Menon, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shoba Group.

The agreement aims to establish integrated housing complexes for the target group that owns land, or build separate houses for those who will be given land or for those who own an uninhabitable house.

The construction area of each house will be 200sqm, with cost of each not exceeding RO35,000.

Sana informed that the association sponsors more than 1,600 orphans in various governorates of the sultanate, and about 600 needy families, in addition to 1,700 families being provided humanitarian assistance on a seasonal basis.

She noted that under the memorandum of understanding, the most needy group registered with the association will be given priority, while the association is working in cooperation
