Saudi SWPC issues RFQ for Jubail-Buraydah IWTP project

The Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SWPC) has issued the Request for Qualification (RFQ) to the interested companies for Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipelines (IWTP) project. The deadline for submitting the bids is January 24, 2022.

This is the fourth IWTP Project of Saudi with a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day and a total length of 603 Kilometer which will be implemented on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.

SWPC said recently said that it had received expressions of interest (EOI) from 32 companies for the planned project of which 14 are Saudi-based firms. The project company, formed by the developer, will provide the entire water transmission capacity to SWPC under a water transmission agreement (WTA).

The WTA is expected to last for 35 years. The Saudi Ministry of Finance has agreed to guarantee the firm’s obligations under the WTA with a credit support agreement.

The top international companies which submitted EOI include Spanish infrastructure majors Acciona and Abengoa Agua; Swiss group Hoffmann Technics; top Korean builder Samsung C&T Corporation; Japan’s Marubeni and China’s Gezhouba, Harbour Engineering, China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering and Powerchina International.
