UK loses out as work on trio of giant floating wind projects falls to Lamprell

Work on a trio of giant floating wind projects off UK waters is to go to Lamprell, the fabricator based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Cerulean Winds is behind the plans, estimated to be worth multiple billions of pounds, for three 1 gigawatt (GW) projects in the Central North Sea and West of Shetland.

US energy service firm NOV was revealed as a key partner for the 200-turbine scheme last year, which has now signed a memorandum of understanding for Lamprell to be the fabricator.
