Shadwell’s Mostahdaf won the feature Prince of Wales’s Stakes on the second day of Royal Ascot on Wednesday as fortune finally smiled on Frankie Dettori.
Mostahdaf was guided home by Jim Crowley whose legendary weighing room rival Dettori had to wait until the penultimate race of day two to enter the winner’s enclosure.
Shadwell, created by late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, former Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, won the feature
Race for the fourth time following Muhtarram (1994–1995) and Nayef (2003).
Sheikha Hissa Bint Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has assumed leadership of the Newmarket-based stable, attended the race.
