Carrefour brings self-checkout service to Bahrain

A self-checkout service has been launched by Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Bahrain in collaboration with CrediMax. It is a first-of-its-kind service in the kingdom at Carrefour City Centre and Bahrain Mall hypermarkets. A hand-held device, simple to use with a bank card or smartphone, allows customers to scan and bag purchases at Carrefour stores. Using the device, customers can scan the barcode of each product at the dedicated self-checkout area to process their payment — via a debit/credit card or MyClub points. The service is easy to use: when completing any transaction, customers simply scan and bag their items at the dedicated self-checkout counters. There is an option to scan a MyClub card barcode and select a preferred payment method. Then, shoppers can exit by scanning the barcode on their printed receipt at the dedicated gate scanner.
