Ipsos’ Jordanian consumer sentiment stagnates in – Roya News English



Ipsos’ Jordanian Consumer Sentiment Index stagnated in the 4th quarter, lingering within the third quarter’s range.

Jordanians’ sentiments towards the “Current State of The Economy” index dropped by 3.7 percentage points during the 4th quarter of 2021.

Confidence in the future state of the economy has dropped by 6.6 percentage points during the 4th quarter, driving a drop in confidence towards job security, as well as a drop in Jordanians’ confidence about their ability to invest in their future and the future of their children.

Improvement in overall employment status as reported job losses decreased by 7 percentage points and reported salary cuts dropped by 8 percentage points. However, females and lower age groups have not reported improvements in their current state of employment nor in their financial conditions.

Despite the drop in reported job losses, employment continues to perform below its average prior to the pandemic. Additionally, unemployment continues to top Jordanian’s concerns with 55% placing unemployment as their main concern.

As infections with COVID-19 variant Omicron have reached unprecedented rates in Jordan, a 12-percentage point increase in the number of people keeping up with the country’s COVID-19 daily cases was reported. On the other hand, this was met with a 6 percentage points
