CPA launches consumer awareness campaign in two governorates

Muscat – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) launched inspection campaigns in South Batinah and North Sharqiyah on Sunday to raise consumer awareness among members of society.

A statement issued by CPA said, ‘Inspection campaigns targeted a number of popular markets in the governorates of South Batinah and North Sharqiyah to ensure that they are free of prohibited goods.’

CPA has recently launched an electronic guide to spread awareness about the danger associated with the use or possession of prohibited goods among consumers and service providers.

An official at CPA affirmed the authority’s commitment to creating a secure consumer market, free from hazardous products that could jeopardise health, safety, and overall well-being.

“The authority remains vigilant in monitoring market activities and takes necessary actions to regulate the sale, circulation, and purchase of various commodities.”

In its pursuit of consumer safety, the authority has banned several goods after conducting a thorough market research. Testing of samples collected from markets confirmed their harmful effects on health.

Prohibited goods and prohibited substances fall under different categories.
