E-commerce traders in Oman need to obtain license to practice

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has called on e-commerce traders using social networking sites to market products to obtain a license to practice

Now you must obtain a license to practice the activity to avoid violating the provisions of the e-commerce regulations,” stated an online announcement from the Ministry.As per the Ministerial Decision No. 499/2023 to regulate the practice of e-commerce activity in the country, the regulatory provisions for e-commerce was set to be implemented after a period of 90 ninety days from its publication in the official gazette in September 2023.The decision aims to establish a legal and regulatory framework for e-commerce and formalise local e-stores.To license to practice e-commerce can be obtained by submitting an electronic application via ‘Oman Business Platform’.The Ministry lists out the steps to obtain an e-commerce license as follows:

Choose business, update commercial registry data, add the activity you want to practice electronically
