Oman ministry urges commercial facilities to provide electronic payment service | Times of Oman

Muscat: Requiring existing commercial facilities to provide electronic payment service to consumers to achieve digital transformation in Oman, says the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) said in a statement: "In cooperation with the competent authorities, the ministry announces the obligation of some existing commercial facilities to provide electronic payment service to consumers, in an effort to achieve digital transformation in the Sultanate and integrate efforts between government institutions in achieving the goal of a comprehensive digital society in line with Oman Vision 2040. The implementation of this decision will begin from January 1, 2022." The decision includes, in the first stage, all activities in industrial areas, complexes, commercial centres and gift markets, food sales activities, gold and silver sales, restaurants and cafes, fruits and vegetables, electronics, building materials and tobacco sales.
