‎Mawani, Maersk lay foundation stone for Ground-breaking Maersk Logistic park

Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Maersk announced the laying of the foundation stone for the company's mega integrated logistics park in the Middle East at Jeddah Islamic Port.

According to Mawani statement, Ground-breaking Maersk Logistic park targets SAR 1.3 billion investments and more than 2,500 direct and indirect job opportunities.

It covers an area of 225,000 square meters, offering a wide range of clean logistics solutions that link and facilitate supply chains movement and handle annual volumes close to 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEUs) from diverse products.

The works are expected to be completed by Q1 2024; the statement added.

Ground-breaking Maersk Logistic park includes storage and distribution zones that accommodate exports and imports of general commodities, warehouses to accommodate refrigerated food products, in addition to a zone for transshipment, air freight, and less than a container load (LCL) freight, and an e-commerce implementation center with high-density storage and mechanical solutions.

It works using renewable energy, aiming to decarbonize logistics services and achieving net zero by 2040. It is fully operated by solar energy generated from solar panels on the roofs, which are distributed over 65,000 sqm. In addition, it depends on electric trucks to effectively reduce emissions.
