Digital Transformation Expert: The Bahraini retail sector can compete in the GCC

Digital transformation expert Mr Sadeq Abdulrasool maintained that Bahrain’s retail sector can compete at a regional level in the Arabian Gulf. This is thanks to the Kingdom’s highly developed, reliable IT infrastructure and the ability of retailers to keep pace with the requirements of digital transformation. He noted that competition is important for growth and profitability, and also serves to attract more shoppers – especially tourists.

Mr Abdulrasool’s remarks came during his participation as a speaker in the main working session of the exhibition “Seamless Saudi Arabia”, opening for the first time in Riyadh. Attendees included Saudi, regional and international experts as well as representatives from international retail companies.

Mr Abdulrasool said that the retail sector faces many challenges worldwide, due to the unstable geopolitical conditions in Europe and the knock-on effect this has had on the global economy. These include high energy prices, the diminished transport of raw materials and goods between countries, as well as the computer chip shortage.
