Health: Bahrain study among top 100 in UK journal – Gulf Digital News





A BAHRAIN study on Covid-19 has been ranked among the top 100 scientific reports from last year.

The research, titled ‘Effect of ABO blood group and antibody class on the risk of Covid-19 infection and severity of clinical outcomes’, was downloaded 26,058 times, which led to it being ranked 61 among papers published by Scientific Reports (an online peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by Nature Portfolio) in 2021.

The analysis, co-authored by National Taskforce to Combat Covid-19 monitoring committee head Lieutenant Colonel Dr Manaf Al Qahtani, highlighted a higher Covid-19 risk associated with blood group B and a lower risk with blood group AB.

Lt Col Dr Al Qahtani, who received the appreciation letter from Scientific Reports, took to Twitter, underlining the efficiency of Bahraini researchers in the field.
