Leisure: Popular book and cultural festival returns – Gulf Digital News

A POPULAR international book and cultural festival returns to Bahrain with the participation of a host of publishers from around the world and prominent littérateurs and cultural icons.

The sixth 10-day BKS DC Book Fair and Cultural Fest will be held at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam’s (BKS) premises in Segaiya, from today until November 20.

The event, being organised by the BKS in collaboration with DC Books, will be officially inaugurated today by famous writer Anvar Ali at 8pm, said BKS president Radhakrishna Pillai.

Indian Embassy Second Secretary Ijhas Aslam will be the guest of honour, added BKS general secretary Varghese Karakkal, at a Press conference.

Renowned national and international authors, literary personalities and cultural icons such as Shashi Tharoor, Karan Tapar, Anand Neelakantan, Alphons Kannamthanam, M Mukundan, Jose Panachippuram, Joseph Annamkutty Jose, Siju Wilson, among others, will be taking part in the festival.

Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava is also expected to attend.

Showcased at the fair will be a wide range of books including fiction, non-fiction, novels, short stories, poetries, self-help, management and cookery, among others.

Well-known publishing houses such as Penguin, Harper Collins, Hachette, Scholastic, Oxford University Press, DC Books, Olive, Current Books, Sankeerthanam, Mathrubhumi, Malayala Manorama and many more will also be featured.
