One of the pioneers of this trend is venture capitalist John Doerr, the chair of Kleiner Perkins and author of best-seller Measure What Matters. He was a pioneer of Silicon Valley's cleantech movement, investing in zero-emission technologies since 2006. In recent years, Doerr has shifted his focus to supporting social entrepreneurs tackling systemic issues including climate change, focusing on measuring and managing action toward specific goals.
