Letters: Students’ evaluation results an eye-opener – Gulf Digital News

WITH all considerations of drafting an online assessment that grants fairness in terms of student preferences and grading objectivity, foundation year students at the Bahrain Teachers’ College in their English reading and writing exam had to write an opinion paragraph in response to the prompt: Should students who need money become social influencers?

Knowing our generation of young learners quite well, one would have presumed that all of them would write in favour of the argument as social media is the lingua franca of this generation.

It was quite enlightening when almost two-thirds of the responses expressed their opinions not in favour of this argument, against roughly about a third of them who supported it .
