Siemens MindSphere Hackathon hosts 10 startups from 8 nations at Expo 2020

Siemens MindSphere Future World Series hackathon, taking place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), is currently hosting ten start-ups from eight countries in the race for a four-day challenge that began earlier this week at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The hackathon challenge by German multinational conglomerate corporation Siemens is part of its initiative to crowdsource solutions to make the world “smarter, more livable, and sustainable.” The Infrastructure Digitalization Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, Siemens has been holding various hackathons since the start of Expo.

The high-profile, open-innovation hackathons by Siemens MindSphere, have been designed on five pillars that drive modern cities – buildings, energy, mobility, industry, and water – and connect them to IoT, using the resulting data in a smart, holistic way.

The current hackathon handles the topic of industry. The first three days will focus on coding and mentoring, with the teams working on their apps and final presentations for the Pitch Day that will decide the final winner.

The start-ups cover diverse areas such as augmented reality, artificial intelligence, IoT, privacy-centric solutions, next-gen mobile technologies, battery charging systems for mobile robots, integrated digital business management solutions, cloud ERP systems and carbon footprint measurement solutions.
