Huwaei concludes Middle East tech competition

MUSCAT: Huwaei concluded Thursday its regional competition for Information Technology (IT) and communications aimed at Middle Eastern university students, with an honoring ceremony that took place at Sultan Qabous University. In his speech at the ceremony, Omani Ministry of Transportation, Communications, and IT secretary Ali Al-Shethani described this competition as one of the largest and most significant in the region.

He added that it began five years ago and with this is sixth edition, the competition saw participation of more than 80,000 students, noting Huwaei’s collaboration with more than 20 ministry and 453 establishment last year to organize the event in which more than 15,000 students participated. This year’s competition, Al-Shethani elucidated, focuses on professional knowledge in seven directions of Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, data storage, large data, cybersecurity, as well as fifth generation networks and technologies.

He announced a collaboration program between the ministry, Huwaei, and supported by Omani communications company Omantel, to present motivational awards of about $450,000 for a duration of five years to Omani students with Huwaei specialized certificates.
