UAE: UAE assumes presidency of UN Security Council – Gulf Digital News

DUBAI: The UAE yesterday took over the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, assuming formal responsibility for the body’s schedule for the month of March.

According to the Arab Defence website, “The UAE will seek, within its joint global endeavours, to achieve sustainable peace, by building resilience, promoting inclusiveness and stimulating innovation.” The UN Security Council voted yesterday to extend to all of Yemen’s Houthis an arms embargo that until now targeted only some leaders of the Iran-backed militia.

Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has welcomed the UN Security Council’s resolution labelling the Iran-backed Houthi militia as a terrorist group and extending an arms embargo to all of Yemen’s Houthis.
