Mubadala to back US-based VC Blue Opal Capital’s funds

UAE – Mubasher: Mubadala Investment Company entered into a strategic partnership with US-based fund-of-funds venture capital (VC) firm Blue Opal Capital, according to a press release.

The Abu Dhabi-based global sovereign investor will anchor Blue Opal Capital’s second venture capital fund which is focused on exploring and investing in key opportunities, particularly in the US.

Faris al Mazrui, Head of Growth Investments at Mubadala, commented: “We see this partnership as an opportunity to continue building on Mubadala’s commitment to the space and are confident in Blue Opal Capital’s ability to anchor the next wave of VC managers in the US.”

It is worth mentioning that Blue Opal Capital invests in emerging venture capital funds and co-investment opportunities that enlarge the returns for their partners. 

Last month, Mubadala inked a $1 billion credit partnership with Goldman Sachs to co-invest in the Asia Pacific region.
