Three British tourists missing after dive boat bursts into flames off Egypt

Three British tourists have been reported missing after a dive boat caught fire in the Red Sea. The Hurricane left Egypt’s port of Marsa Alam with 27 passengers and crew on board on Tuesday. It was due to return to port on Sunday morning, when a fire broke out. There were 15 British tourists, 10 staff members, and two guides on board. Twelve Britons, along with the crew and guides, were rescued. The search for the three missing tourists continues. According to local officials, the initial investigation determined that the source of the incident was a short circuit in the engine room. “The crew and passengers were rescued by a launch called Blue and transferred to the al Shajara Centre in Marsa Alam,” said Major General Muhammad Bandari, secretary general of the Red Sea Governorate. Authorities and some vessels are searching for three British nationals, he added. This is the second incident involving a dive boat in recent weeks . On April 24, the diving boat Carlton Queen sank near Hurghada. All aboard were saved. Meanwhile, a Russian expat was killed in a shark attack in the Red Sea off the coast of Hurghada last Thursday.
