Tourism min.: US tourist traffic into Egypt scores unprecedented record in 2023

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa said on Tuesday 26/12/2023 US tourist traffic into Egypt achieved an unprecedented record this year.

During a meeting with US ambassador in Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg, the minister discussed with her ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries at the tourism and archaeological domains.

They also discussed cooperation in the field of training to raise and enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the ministry’s staff, in addition to discussing tourism investment opportunities in Egypt, topped by hotels.

They also discussed efforts to further cooperate with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in many development projects in the field of tourism, preserving antiquities and heritage, enhancing and raising the efficiency of various tourist and archaeological sites, raising and strengthening tourism and archaeological awareness, and developing the skills of the surrounding communities.

Egypt plans to increase the number of incoming tourists to hit 30 million by 2028, the minister said, pointing out that improving the tourism investment climate in Egypt and increasing the number of hotel rooms are axes of a national strategy for incoming tourist increase.

During the meeting, they discussed a visit to Egypt of the famous American basketball team, Harlem Globetrotters.
