Kuwait to resume direct flights with India from Tuesday

KUWAIT — Kuwait will resume direct commercial flights with India on Tuesday, the Gulf country's civil aviation authority said on Monday. As per the quota by Directorate General of Civil Aviation a total of 768 daily arrivals from Indian destinations will be permitted by both Indian and Kuwait carriers. National carrier Kuwait Airways opened bookings for direct flights from several Indian destinations starting from Sept 7. The first flights will depart Chennai and Mumbai tomorrow and fares being quoted start around KD 590 for a one way ticket to Kuwait. Flights from Cochin and Delhi are also in similar range and are scheduled for Wednesday Sept 8 and 9. The decision to resume flights was first announced last month, while following COVID-19 protocols, but without giving a time frame for implementation. The Gulf country had suspended commercial flights from several countries including India on the advice of health authorities amid COVID surge. All passengers arriving from India either directly or via another country will be banned from entering unless they have spent at least 14 days out of India, Kuwait's directorate general of civil aviation had said in April.
