Flight delays and cancellations have emerged as the most common sources of frustration for travelers, according to the latest data from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Additionally, issues such as baggage delay or loss (69 complaints), denied confirmed seats (62 complaints), travel ticket problems (4 complaints), and flight route changes (3 complaints) were also highlighted in the report.

The Civil Aviation Authority’s website details passenger rights as per the Civil Aviation Law. In cases of flight cancellation or delay, airlines are mandated to inform passengers at least two weeks before the scheduled departure time. Failure to do so requires airlines to provide options such as reimbursement, re-routing, or offering accommodations and meals based on the waiting time.

Compensation, as outlined in Article 4 of the Civil Aviation Law, depends on factors like distance and the reason for the delay or cancellation. However, airlines are exempt from paying compensation if the circumstances are deemed extraordinary and beyond
