Hotels report 11% jump in occupancy



Muscat: The three to five-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman received around 434,000 guests at the end of February 2024 with an occupancy rate of 61.5 per cent.The occupancy of hotels saw an increase of 11.2 per cent in the first two months of this year, from 55.3 per cent in 2023 during the same period.Overall, the three to five-star hotels received 217,897 guests in February and 215,869 guests in January of this year.The number of guests received by hotels in December 2023 was 213,440 compared to 228,688 in November of the same year.According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), nearly 153,000 or 35.4 per cent of the guests were Europeans.The revenues of total hotels were RO52 million during the same period, up 18 per cent from 2023 during the same period.The number of guests increased 18.2 per cent from 366,969 in 2023 to 433,856 this year.The number of guests from the GCC increased by 13.6 per cent to 141,335 from 133,701 in 2023, from Africa by 9.7 per cent to 18,406, from Asia by 29.5 per cent to 54,562 and Americans by 27 per cent to 14,829.
