Investments in tourism sector touch $7.8 billion

BERLIN: The ITB Berlin Convention, the largest world’s tourism forum, will kick off on Monday. The Sultanate of Oman is an official partner for ITB Berlin 2024 which will run till March 7.The event is a unique opportunity to enhance the travel and tourism industry in the Sultanate of Oman and contribute to increase tourist flow to the country.This partnership emphasises the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to developing the tourism sector, strengthening its ranking as a leading global tourist destination, and contributing in promoting promising investment opportunities in the country.Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, will head Oman's delegation to the convention.Speaking on the occasion, he said that the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman, to support the tourism sector are moving ahead as investments in infrastructure and tourism and heritage projects, has gone up to $7.8 billion, while there are more than 40 projects under development as adventure tourism products.
