Nature reserves attract over 46,000 visitors, bolstering ecotourism

Oman's nature reserves drew 46,934 visitors this year till the end of the third quarter, Environment Authority reported.Muscat – Oman’s nature reserves, renowned for their scenic beauty and diverse ecosystems, drew 46,934 visitors this year till the end of the third quarter, Environment Authority (EA) reported.

These reserves, with their picturesque landscapes, camping sites and diving facilities, offer unique opportunities to explore nature, coral reefs and other underwater marvels.

An EA official stated, “The authority is committed to conducting scientific studies and enhancing tourism and entertainment facilities within these nature reserves.”

He informed that Oman’s 26 nature reserves play a pivotal role in preserving biodiversity and promoting the sultanate as a global ecotourism destination.

These reserves are also a key attraction for domestic tourism and contribute to the national income. “We are currently focusing on developing nine new nature reserves to further support ecotourism in the sultanate,” the official added.

Discussing wildlife conservation efforts, the official said, “Significant strides have been made in protecting endangered animals. The Wildlife Rehabilitation and Reproduction Centre in Barka is home to 2,746 wild animals and birds. This year alone, the authority has rescued 41 animals and birds.”
