This growth encompassed general goods, liquid products, and bulk commodities, underlining the ports’ significance in facilitating trade and commerce.

Moreover, the number of berthed ships at Oman ports rose to 11,005 in 2023, a 4.3 per cent increase from 2022. This uptick in maritime traffic further solidified the ports’ reputation as key players in the region’s shipping and logistics landscape.

A notable highlight was the surge in cruise ship activity at Sultan Qaboos Port, Salalah Port, and Khasab Port. These ports witnessed a remarkable increase in cruise ship arrivals, welcoming 229 ships with over 599,000 passengers in 2023, compared to just 87 ships carrying 205,000 passengers in 2022.
