Over 47,000 tourists visited two popular tourist sites in Q1

Muscat – As many as 47,368 people visited Jabal Akhdar and Ras al Janz during the first three months of this year, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) reported.

The latest data released by the ministry show that the number of tourists who visited Jabal Akhdar was 31,335, while 16,033 visited the Ras al Jinz Turtle Reserve in the first Quarter of 2023.

Jabal Akhdar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Oman. Its moderate climate during the summer months and freezing cold during winters make it an ideal place for eco and adventure tourism.

Visitors can enjoy walking in the wadis, climb mountains, and explore caves, which in turn allows them to get acquainted with the local culture.

There are many ancient sites in Jabal Akhdar, which make its villages popular among foreign tourist as well.

The reserve in Jinz Beach in South Sharqiyah governorate is a world-renowned nesting site of green turtles (Chelonia mydas). It is perhaps one of the most important nesting places in the coastline of the Indian Ocean.

The Ras al Jinz Reserve was established via a Royal Decree in 1996 to preserve one of the rarest natural elements of the country and includes an interactive museum.
